Summer is Fun

Having had babies and toddlers, I've never really felt as though summer was that different than any other time of year.  But now that Graham has his first year of "real school" under his belt and my boys are all getting older and we're not really on a nap schedule anymore, we are all able to do so much more and have some serious fun!!  I think I'm getting a glimpse of why everyone loves summer so much ... and we've only been at it for 20 days since we spent our first 2 weeks of summer at the beach.  We've packed a lot in during the past few weeks and have tons more to go.  Here are pics of only some of the fun things we've been doing ... I didn't take pics of Vandy baseball, Summer JAM, Family night at Cheekwood, slip-n-slide, and countless days at the pool.  Looking forward to almost 2 more months of fun and definitely not missing the morning rush of getting everyone off to school.

 Movie in the Park

Children's Picnic at Warner Nature Center

My new found fave - Cumberland Park

Dog sitting Tom's dog, Dixie - a HUGE break through in overcoming L&C's fear of dogs

Out for ice cream on my birthday

Playing in the creek at Parmer Park

Cheering on Kevin during Muddy Buddy

Graham got to do the mini Muddy Buddy with his pal, Jackson

And this is what our bath tub looks like most nights :)

Weekend Getaway X 2

I took Luke and Carter down to Birmingham last weekend to visit my college roommate, Robin, and Kevin took Graham to Atlanta to visit his high school friend, Joey, and go to a Braves game.  We both had very fun and successful trips!!  It is finally getting a little easier to travel with our little munchkins ... but maybe that's just because we split them up :)

On the train ride at the Birmingham zoo ... Elizabeth wishes she were in the seat in front of us with all the big kids :)

Luke, Anna, and Carter

These 3 could definitely pass as triplets

We had a lot of girlie toys to choose from :)

 Graham, Kevin, Joey, and Simeon

Lost Tooth

Graham lost his first tooth today!!!!!  He first noticed that it was loose about 10 days ago and has been wiggling it lots.  This morning I checked on it and it was hanging by a thread ... I told him that I thought today was going to be the day.  When we got home from church he asked me to pull it out and after a few tries, I got it.  He was really excited, and I'm not exactly sure why, but I felt really proud ... it's not like he did anything, I mean, we all lose our teeth.  He left the tooth fairy a note and has his tooth under his pillow ... we'll see what she brings :)

His note says, "please leave my tooth. love, graham"
and then he added, "but can I still have a coin" - gotta love that kid!!!!!

Too many to count

In this blog I have chronicled our ER visits, but now I think I'm throwing in the towel and stopping keeping count!!  My sweet Carter bear took a major spill off the stroller (with a little help from Luke pulling it down) and fell flat on his face onto our low brick wall in our carport.  I've seen a lot of blood in my day, but this one takes the cake.  Of course it happened 20 min before I was supposed to go get Graham at school, but working my magic (as we, moms, do so well) and 3 phone calls and 3 friends later (thank you, Lord, that they all answered and all said yes), I got him all squared away for the afternoon and Luke and I took our little patient to the doctor's office.  After checking him out, the doctor wanted a plastic surgeon to stitch him up, so we got back in the car and went to another doctor's office and got him all fixed up ... he got 3 stitches on the outside and 5 inside his mouth.  He was a total rock star and didn't cry at all ... even when he got the shot of lidocane.  And Luke was definitely concerned for his bro and wanted to make sure he was taken care of well :)  So grateful that it wasn't more serious and that all our puzzle pieces worked out so it wasn't a completely crazy afternoon.  Until next time ...

A trip to Sweet CeCe's helped ease the pain

A trip earlier this week to the Nature Center
