DRAMA

I feel like I lead a pretty low-key life with little drama, but this week has been a bit different. My son has decided to be a little monkey crawling out of his crib constantly ... he not only also figured out how to open his door, he figured how to unlock it, too. BUT, I outsmarted him by taking off the doorknob and switching it, so that the lock is now on the outside and I can lock him in there :) All week long we have found him either asleep on the floor or in the chair in his room ... he is one crazy boy. We will be moving him to a big boy bed VERY soon. I also had another ultrasound this week that went well (baby A measured 2 lbs. and B measured 1 lb. 13 oz). My doctor's visit went great, too. And then she called me about an hour after I left to say that my cervical length has shortened 25% in the last 5 weeks and is concerned about our vacation next week :( All that to say, I went back yesterday (yes, on my birthday) to have a fetal fibronectin test (a pre-term labor test) and my results were negative, which is good and my dr. said she is fine with us going on our trip!!!!!!!!! THEN, she tells me that my glucose screening test came back 2 points over the cutoff and I need to go back next week for the 3 hour test. I might as well get a second address at the doctor's office :) I kind of wish I was pregnant 30 yrs. ago ... sometimes ignorance is bliss!! But on the positive side, I have healthy babies, I'm healthy, and I have a dr. who is being careful and looking out for our best interest, so I am VERY thankful.

Weekend Trip to Birmingham

We took a little trip down to B'ham to visit family and friends for the weekend ... making the most of our little time left of traveling with only one child :) We stayed with my college roommate, Robin, and her husband Todd (or Toff as Graham called him) and their adorable 8 month old, Anna. Graham LOVED her and playing with her toys, but he wasn't so gentle all the time. I have a feeling these twins may have some battle wounds early on!! We drove down to Clanton to see my 92 year old grandfather ... it was great seeing him and I know he enjoyed our visit. He is a twin and is very excited that I'm having twins ... he predicts that they are a boy and a girl. We also went to a baby shower for one of Kevin's best friends, Joey, and his wife Beth. And we even got to see Pops and Gigi briefly as they were driving back to Memphis from Destin. It was a very fun filled weekend!!

Sea Island

We went with my whole family to Sea Island for Memorial Week. It was SO much fun!!! All 5 kids were healthy and happy and loved being together. We took 2 babysitters with us this year, which was the BEST decision ... it was so nice to have extra hands and eyes and took away a lot of stress. Our weather was great and we truly enjoyed relaxing and simply spending time with each other. Thanks Mom and Dad for a WONDERFUL trip. New York

I got a real treat at the beginning of this week ... a trip to New York!!!!!! My mom, sisters-in-law and I took a little girls trip to shop, eat, and relax. My dad and Wilson were also there for business, so we got to have dinners with them. It really was a perfect little get-away, and I appreciate Kevin for playing Mr. Mom and Devon and Courtney for helping out with Graham. He wasn't quite as excited to see me when I returned as I hoped, so I don't think he missed me too much :) On a side note, I had another ultrasound on Thur. and Baby A is 1 pound and Baby B is 14 oz ... my doctor is very pleased with everything!!

Our Mister

This is by far the hardest post I have ever had to write. I accidentally hit Mister with the car, and his wounds were too severe, so we had to put him down on Sunday afternoon. We truly do feel so heart-broken. He was a member of our family and part of our every day lives for the past 4 years, so it is a very tough loss. I know it was a complete accident, but that doesn't make it any easier on me. And Graham continually asking about him is killing me. I am sad he won't ever remember him but happy that he doesn't have to feel this grief and pain. Our house and yard are just not the same at all without him. We have wonderful memories of our crazy, precious little dog and know time will heal our wounds.

Allergic Reaction and Ultrasound

I made Graham his first peanut butter and jelly sandwich earlier this week, and it did not go so well. Within 2-3 minutes after eating a very small amount, he started sneezing and welts were all over his face, arms, and legs. His eyes were watering terribly, too. We jumped in the car to get some Benadryl (Graham was wailing all the way) and it worked its magic. So, a word to all of you moms out there, make sure you have Benadryl in the house before you give your child peanut butter for the first time :) He's fine and has had no more symptoms ... I guess we'll just steer clear of peanut butter ... BUMMER!!

I had my mid-way ultrasound today and all looked good with both Baby A and Baby B. Much to the dismay of many friends and family we did not find out the sexes ... you'll just have to hold out another 4ish months!! Baby A was much calmer and more cooperative for all of the pictures than Baby B. At one point I saw Baby B's foot and I asked, "Is that touching its head?" and the sonogramer informed me that it was touching Baby A's head :) Baby A measured 10 oz. and Baby B 8 oz. which is fine for now, but my doctor wants to continually watch their growth to make sure the discrepancy doesn't increase. I'm feeling lots of movement lately but I can't distinguish one from the other yet. We'll keep you posted!!
